Joie de vivre

I am now at a stopping point on this thing.  I finished the last green "log" and because I don’t have anymore purple, I must order more yarn and wait.  It’s about 25.5" x 24" right now.

I actually ran out of orange yarn when I was binding off.  Thankfully I have some similar weight bright orange yarn in my stash.  Yay for yarn swaps!  I think it’s hard to see the difference and this will end up on the wrong side, so it’s all fine and dandy.

awww, what a precious little muffin.

To’ up from the flo’ up

Not the most flattering photo of me, but I kind of like it..  By the way, I was caught mid-blink.  I wasn’t drunk … yet.

Some of you may recognize that sweater as the infamous "baby pants" sweater from last year.  It’s nice actually getting to wear handknit things, especially in a climate like Houston’s.

O Procrastination!

I think this is a picture of Sufjan Stevens knitting.  How sweet.

Just as an update, I’ve made a good deal of progress on the back of the Vogue High Neck Lace Top due to the fact that I need to order more handpaintedyarn.  I bought a set of Addis (#5, 16") and the knitting is a bit nicer.  The bobbles actually look kind of good.  Who would have thought?

je ne sais pas

So it’s been a week and I’ve finished the third cycle of colors.  It’s about 22" x 20.25" right now.  On the last purple "log" I ran out of yarn.  The random number generator said that I had to knit 18 ridges and yarn was running short.  I decided to just knit as far as I could and if I ran out, oh well.  I made all 18 ridges plus the bind off.

This is what remained of the purple:

I guess this means I need to order more yarn.  Oh darn!

This is off topic from yarn and knitting.  I’ve been listening to the soundtrack for this movie for the past few days.  Both the movie and the soundtrack are wonderful.  If you haven’t seen the movie, you should.  And I’m not saying that because I have crushes on Elijah Wood, Eugene Hütz, and Ukraine…    And yes, shame on me for not having read the book.  (by Jonathan Safran Foer)

Whole lotta log cabin goin’ on

I finally finished my first ever sock!  It’s the Log Cabin socks pattern from Handknit Holidays.  I’m really happy with how it turned out, except for the fact that I kind of suck at grafting.  oh well.  It fits amazingly well.  It’s almost enough for me to actually want to really get into sock knitting.  Too bad most socks are done on tiny needles.

I don’t really care for that photo, but it suffices.  The yarn is Karabella Aurora 8 in some maroony color.  I forgot which one exactly.  This yarn is SO SOFT.  I actually slept in that sock last night.  One thing: it has already started to pill a little bit.  oh well  Maybe I can get the other sock started and finished before it gets "cold" in Houston.

I loved the cable pattern so much, I’m using it in a scarf for a friend. :D
