Je vous présente:

Sahara.

She fits me so well and I am in love with her. This is 1) my first stash only FO of 2007 (and probably my first FO of 2007)  2) my first actual finished sweater, not just a minimal bolero.

I wanted to show a close up of the neckline, but all I had was a boob shot that silly Lucas took.. thus the goddess hovering over my décolletage.  (Wouldn’t that make an awesome tattoo?)

Pattern: Sahara from Stitch Diva Studios by Wendy Bernard

Yarn: 7ish balls of debbie bliss cashmerino aran in #607, various colorways. :\

Size: top half is size XS, bottom half is size M

Notes: I wasn’t crazy about the "t shirt hem" before I blocked it because I thought it added too much to my already ample derrière, but post-blocking it seems to be fine.  I don’t think I’m going to rip it out.  Also, I added length when doing the bottom half’s increases so that the sweater would be closer to what they have in the promo photos.  I highly recommend this pattern.  It gives tips on how to get the exact fit you want AND it’s knit from the top down, so you can try it on as you go.  Plus, the only seaming involved is seaming up the front so yr boobies don’t pop out.

I am IN LOVE with this sweater.  I love the pattern so much that I’ve already started another.  This one is the long-sleeved version in elann.com’s Peruvian Highland Silk in Calypso Green.

Let’s go sailing

Did you know that in my spare time I’m an archaeologist?  A nautical archaeologist to be exact.  (I mean, hello, this blog is called ssaillorss/marinheiro só)

So today, I was working along the shores of the Post Sea and I came across this wonderfully intact specimen.  It looks like he was once a pirate and he died clutching his precious booty.  (Pirate booty, not the colloquial use of the term.)

That’s Yarn Pirate’s Karma, a superwash 50/50 merino/tencel blend.  What a find.

Qu’est-ce que je peut dire?

Has this ever happened to you?

The needle broke in half while I was knitting.  I don’t even knit that tightly.  :(   I was just doing a small flat thing, I wasn’t knitting in the round, so I guess that’s ok.  But still, it’s not fun to have your needle break in half while you’re using it.  Thank goodness Brittany replaces broken needles free of charge.  sigh

Oh, by the way, p3tog tbl is the bane of my existence right now.

no se

:D My copy of Andean Folk Knits finally came in the mail today!  What a great book.  I honestly want to make almost every single pattern in here.  I bought the book mainly to make something for a certain someone as a thank you gift, but I plan on making a lot of the other things in here, like some of the coca bags and most likely the chulo/chullo.  I haven’t had time to read it just yet, but it looks like it has a wealth of information about .. Andean folk knits.  This really is an amazing book.  I am so glad I bought it.  (I’ll bring it to SNB tomorrow to show everyone.)

I wonder if Lucas’s dad would like a coca bag that says "Bolivia Te Amo" … hm

Um.. I hate to say that I broke "Knit from Your Stash" already, but like I said above, the yarn is for a gift.  I don’t have in my possession the yarn needed for the project, so I had to buy it.  At least it’s only 3 skeins.  I think gift yarn was allowed, right?
