Parallel Lines

About 15 rows into the increase section of Sahara, I noticed that I had been increasing every 4 rows instead of every 5 rows.  BOOOO.  So, what to do?  Save it for the boring morning drive to Nowhere, Texas and update the blog instead!  I did make a lot of progress on Sahara in the past few days, thanks to my joining the front and thus being able to knit and read at the same time.  good stuff

Here are some photos of things I’ve been working on lately.  I always have a ton of on-going projects, but these are the ones I’ve been devoting the most time to.

Lovely Sahara #2 in Elann Peruvian Highland Silk–Calypso Green.  When I first started this, one of my coworkers asked me if I was knitting a baby sweater.  :(

Entrelac scarf in SWTC Karaoke.  I don’t know how I feel about how these colors are turning out in this pattern.  Please give me your opinions!

I like this one a lot though.  It’s ‘My So Called Scarf’ in handpaintedyarn.com’s Colonia 140–Sotobosque, which means ‘underbrush.’  I love the subtle zigzags of the colors.

A Finished Object!  This is one of two Dashings (from Knitty) made with Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Hyacinth.  I need to knit its mate.  I’m not really in any hurry as it’s gotten to the time of year when I sweat in my house.  I love how this one turned out.  BTW, I knit the small size, of course.  I’d like to knit a pair for Lucas, but I don’t know if the large would fit him or not.  I guess I’ll just have to knit and see!

Such simple, lovely cables.  yum

P.S. I might get to go to Norway, land of gorgeous knits, in May!  I’m crossing my fingers.

I was in Albuquerque the past few days and I really wanted to visit the Fiesta Yarns store, but sadly, I had no transportation outside of my own feet and the store was about 10 miles away.  I know they have buses, but I didn’t have much time for that.  Oh well.  I was really looking forward to ogling yarn.  Maybe it’s for the best though.  I don’t need to cave in!  :D

I did have some time to spend knitting while we were sitting in the lobby, waiting for our rooms to become available.  I finished Dashing #1 and now I have to complete Dashing #2.  A lot of my schoolmates commented on my knitting, which was amusing.  People think that it’s "cool" that I knit.  For me, it’s just another thing to do.  Some people go jogging, some watch tv, I knit.

Heh..  along with some other finished Saharas, Stitch Diva Studios featured mine in a mass email the other day.  It’s kind of exciting, I must say.

I just had to write about this.  Thanks to the internets, I’ve arranged to send 19 skeins of stash yarn to different people.  I’m trading my stuff for theirs, so I’ll be getting 11 skeins in return.  Still!  That is a net loss of 8 skeins of yarn on my part, thanks to my trading cheap yarn for nice stuff like Noro Cash Iroha.

If anyone’s interested in yarn or a knitting book or Interweave magazine, go here: http://community.livejournal.com/knitswap/304629.html

Here’s what I’ll be receiving:
1. 3 skeins of Noro Cash Iroha in Natural. I’m going to dye it and knit it into a scarf and I plan on trying to sell it in etsy. (that is, if I can’t resist keeping it)
2. 4 skeins of SWTC Optimum in turquoise. Supposedly this is a super soft wool. I also plan on dyeing this yarn, knitting it into a scarf and selling it on etsy.
3. 3 skeins of Lion Brand Cotton Ease in pink. This is going to be made into a super cute little jumper dress for a little baby girl.
4. 1 skein of SWTC Karaoke. This will probably be a scarf. I can’t resist self-striping yarn!

3 Things. 3 Choses. 3 Cosas.

1. OMG it’s a baby hat!  This is the baby hat pattern from One Skein.  I used less than a skein of Rowan Soft Baby in some yellowish greenish color.

2. OMG it’s a toe!  Yarn Pirate — Karma.  Size "really effing small" needles.

3. OMG handpaintedyarn.com updated their stock list!  And they have Amatista and Ambar (Colonia 140)!  This means that I can buy another skein of each color for my blanket!  Which is good news because the purple (Amatista) is not going to last for the current block/"log" I’m working on.  The blanket is currently 27.5" x 35", excluding the block I just started.
